Murray Bridge based trainer, Sarah Rutten, has recently gone live on Prism for her owner communications and finances.
Born and bred in SA, Sarah grew up around horses from a young age. It was a passion of hers to work in the industry and she started her first job in racing part-time whilst at school. She worked for Tony McEvoy for over 6 years as a travelling foreman and then became the race day foreman at Angaston for the last 2 years. She travelled with the great mare Sunlight looking after her daily and riding her throughout her career and then walked her through the sales ring as a broodmare. This was a life changing experience for Sarah and made her into the horsewoman she is today. With the support of Tony McEvoy, Sarah decided that once the stable relocated to Ballarat that it was time for her to go out and make it on her own.
Sarah trains out of the Lehmans property which is just the perfect set up and right next door to the Murray Bridge new state of the art track. She has access to treadmills, swimming pools and sand training tracks which gives her horses so much variety and a place to thrive in the country environment. It’s peaceful and quiet and Sarah finds a lot of horses that don’t handle the hustle and bustle of the metropolitan training centres do very well under her care. The start to Sarah's training career was more than she could have ever imagined. Her first winner landed with just her third runner when 2YO filly Kristobel saluted at Balaklava a couple of months ago. Sarah's training ethos is to have happy horses, do a quality job and make it a fun, rewarding and inclusive ownership experience for her clients. Above all else and what shines through the most is Sarah's genuine love of the thoroughbred and getting the best out of each and every galloper in her stable.
